The Oktoberfest Experience – Carnies and Beer Gardens

22 Sep

Here is the third and final installment of “The Oktoberfest Experience”.

Oktoberfest is also a giant carnival.  As night falls, boozy revelers come out to play under the flashing lights.  While a lucky few are partying within the tents, those without reservations can still have a good time!

In fact, it is not entirely true that the only way to get a beer at Oktoberfest is to have a seat in a tent.  There is a Paulaner  “Weis” Beer Garden serving pints at a bar set up in a reconverted carousel.  The “carrousel” is surrounded by benches and tables, and food (i.e. sausages and fries) can be bought at nearby stands.  This is really a good alternative for those who cannot get into a tent and will help you stay warm on a chilly Bavarian night.

For braver souls, there are also countless rides and roller coasters.  You can free fall, spin, or even bumper car it up all night long!

Oktoberfest is really about having fun, and there are countless ways to succeed!  It is definitely worth the trip (and money).
